muzing # 008: i hate winter

I hate Winter.

Technically it's not even Winter till tomorrow, but it feels like Winter and has for the past week. I hate feeling cold, freezing fingers when I type, runny noses, coughing, shivering, icy breath, watery eyes, and having to layer clothing.

In fact, I hate everything about Winter... except that it's a great excuse to jump into bed early and curl up under a toasty warm doona with a good book.

muzing # 007: blog woes

Bond. James Bond.

Yeah, procrastinating again. Why must working on assignments be so incredibly boring that I feel the need to take a break every five minutes? I don't even find working on my current assignment all that boring and still the regular breaks!

Anyway, I think I'm doing something wrong when I add new posts. They don't seem to be publishing. I mean, they show up on the page but if you go to the profile page, they don't show up there. Weird. I swear this shouldn't be beyond my brain to figure out but, apparently I can't even construct a sentence properly right now. I slept really late this morning, maybe that has something to do with it.

muzing # 006: eternal sunshine, spotless mind

Took in a screening of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind yesterday. Asking the cinema cashier for a ticket to that movie is a bit of a mouthful! I almost enjoyed a private screening, till two other people decided to check it out too. Great film. An intriguing idea, well executed by all involved with the film. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet were an inspired leading pair, and played off each other really well - something I wasn't expecting.

Looking forward to renting this one once it's released on DVD, as it was a little confusing early on.

muzing # 005: death of a much loved character

R.I.P Winifred Burkle.

So on Angel last night they killed off Fred. It was heartbreaking! When the character of Fred first joined the cast of Angel I found her incredibly irritating and wished she wasn't there. But she's grown on me during her time as a part of the Angel Investigations crew and I was so disheartened that Whedon decided to kill her! Damn you Whedon! It was especially hard to take following the recent death of Cordy. *sigh* It's bad luck to be a female on that show!

Anyway, bright and early this morn, some builders started up hammerin' and sawin' and hollerin' right next door. Not the most pleasant way to greet the day after staying up late to watch aforementioned death of Fred. *grumble*

muzing # 004: van helsing

Have just returned from seeing Van Helsing. I'd been meaning to see it since it was released but assignments were too much of a concern. Now, I know the film has had a pretty poor reception and many people were incredibly disappointed in it, but I thought it was rollicking good fun! Is it wrong to be seduced by such visual eye candy as a film like Van Helsing provides?

muzing # 003: kingly returns

Last night I watched Return of the King. It held up remarkably well on the small screen, I had wondered if it would lose much of its impact. Recalling the splendour and majesty of some of the visuals, it did make me wish I had seen it a few more times on the big screen though. Hopefully some enterprising cinemas will trot out the trilogy on significant anniversaries each year. You know, 1 year anniversary, 5 year.. etc. I really ought to start saving my pennies so I can invest in a home cinema one day.

muzing # 002: procrastinating

I'm procrastinating again. Just found out that the assignment which was originally due on the 4th of June has been pushed back till the 11th of June. On the one hand, hooray! On the other, how annoying! Now instead of putting my head down and getting it done I'll ease off and then probably be frantically trying to finish it around the 9th.

More time for Spider Solitaire! If I could only beat that nasty four suits..

muzing # 001: will i make it?

Notice if you will, that I have numbered this initial blog muzing as 001. Those who know me would laugh at this, as I am notorious for starting something, being enthusiastic about it for X amount of time, and then completely losing interest before I really see it through. Therefore I willingly admit that it is ambitious of me to imagine that I would reach 999 blog muzings before I tire of this blog caper. One down..

Incidentally, I am currently procrastinating about working on an assignment. Hoho, what a surprise! But I feel I have some right because I have just completed another assignment and it's really quite detrimental to one's sanity to jump straight from assignment to assignment. (I read that somewhere.)
